Route 66

Vinita Oklahoma Route 66

America’s Main Street is our Main Street, too! In fact, Cyrus Avery, known as the Father of Route 66, called Vinita home just prior to statehood. The oldest town on Oklahoma Route 66, Vinita’s stretch of the Mother Road features historic buildings with a variety of shops, antique stores, cafés, and more. A celebration is held each June to honor our place on the famed highway. In addition to authentic aspects of Route 66, visitors to Vinita can enjoy a wealth of rich history by learning about our creation and culture at the Eastern Trials Museum a block west of the Breezeway at 215 West Illinois Avenue.

Vinita's Clanton's Cafe is one of the oldest family owned restaurants on Route 66.
