Vinita named 3rd Safest City in Oklahoma

April 27, 2017

Vinita has been named the 3rd Safest City in Oklahoma for 2017 (based on actual 2016 crime rates) by the National Council for Home Safety and Security.

Vinita holds the distinction of being the first city in Oklahoma to have electricity, and today remains the location of the world's largest McDonald's location (by square footage). That's pretty impressive, but Vinita piles on the praise by also being one of the safest cities in the state, experiencing just 7 violent crimes and 53 property crimes last year.  See details on all Top 10 Safest Cities in Oklahoma.

Because the city rests at the base of the Ozarks Highlands, residents have access to a topographical area that's a mixture of forest and prairie. Additionally, there are several National Register of Historic Places highlights in the area, including the Vinita Inn on Route 66, Randall Tire Company, Craig County Courthouse, Attucks School, and Carselowey House.
